“From Small Beginnings
Come Great Things!”
Our school proudly offers two distinct streams:
Learning Support Stream: Designed to provide practical resources, learning strategies, and social integration for equal participation in the National Curriculum.
Complex Needs Stream: Tailored for learners with comorbid conditions, delivering individualized support within the Stepping Stone Curriculum, ensuring they reach their fullest potential through personalized education.
Beyond academics, our commitment extends to real-world skills, fostering independence, and enriching awareness through experiential learning. Stepping Stone School is not just a place of education; it’s a supportive community dedicated to nurturing the potential of neurodivergent children. We empower them to face the world confidently, armed with the skills for a fulfilling life.
Our Vision
We envision a future where neurodivergent children have the opportunity to thrive, reach their full potential, and become valued, contributing members of the community.
Our Mission
Our mission is to enhance the lives of neurodivergent children and their families by imparting vital skills, knowledge, and values through specialized education and dedicated teaching.
Founder & Principal
Almarie Mostert
Almarie grew up with her parents and 4 siblings in South Africa. Her youngest brother was diagnosed with “Severe Autism” and intellectual impairment in 1987.
After completing her degree in Education at the University of Tswane (RSA) she moved to London, England to gain further experience. From early in her career she taught children with complex special needs with a specific interest in Autism.
After 9 years of teaching experience abroad, she relocated with her family from London to Swakopmund, Namibia.
In Namibia Almarie initiated support to families and preschoolers with Autism and Down Syndrome who were unable to be placed in mainstream schools. It soon became clear that a Special Education School for neurodivergent kids is a need in Namibia.
